THE Founder

Young designer Christelle is the founder and creative director of LILI AMPELA . She was born and raised in Antananarivo , the capital city of Madagascar.  She obtained a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art in New Zealand in 2009. Strongly attached to her country , and with the strong wish to fight poverty in Madagascar , she returned to her home city and built a socially responsible company that specializes in the production and fair trade of raffia accessories.
The brand  was born in 2014 inspired by natural materials, traditional malagasy crafts and her travels around the world .
She is very thankful to people who have supported and encouraged her in this exciting adventure.

our ethic

LILI AMPELA items are handmade by single mothers from poor communities . By giving jobs to them , we give to these brave women the opportunity to become financially independant .
Their children's education is also very important to us , therefor a percentage of our anual sales is donated to contribute for their school fees and school materials .

All materials used to build our lovely accessories are safe for your health . We use genuine raffia fibers to crochet the bodies ,  organic coton for the lining and chemical free tanned leather for the straps . Fiber dying  is made traditionally using vegetal pigments and natural salt to fix the color .
The entire dying process is also made manually therefor color might slightly vary depending on fiber thickness which makes our items unique !
